Stone Durability
Stone hardness is vital for long-term wear. I advise against soft gems (measured on the Mohs scale) for engagement rings, which are worn daily. Sapphires, diamonds, and certain tourmalines are durable are beautiful as are rubies, emeralds and spinels.
Diamond & Lab-Grown Options
Some clients prefer a natural diamond for its traditional value. Others opt for lab-grown diamonds, which offer exceptional beauty and value. I’ll help you decide what’s right for you.
Gem-A (The Gemmological Association of Great Britain) is a globally respected authority in gemmology, based in the UK. While they don’t “certify” stones for resale like GIA reports, they train gemmologists to assess stones to internationally recognised standards. If you'd like third-party grading for your diamond or gemstone, I can advise on reputable UK labs and factor this into your budget. Be mindful that some “certificates” offered online can be misleading — trusted grading makes all the difference.
Ethically Sourced Stones
I work with trusted ethical stone suppliers. If you want certification or independent grading, we can factor that into your budget.
Made With You, For You
